Coaches

Josh Carlile 
Head Coach

Josh Carlile started his coaching career as the varsity co-head coach of the high school softball program from 2003-2006. Since taking over the program completely in 2006 Manteno High School has a record of 280-106 (.725%). In Carlile's tenure MHS has won four conference championships. The program has also won five regional championships and one sectional championship. Manteno Softball claimed a super sectional championship in 2014. In that same year Manteno earned a second place at the state tournament. Carlile was named the I-8 coach of the year in 2007, 2011, 2014, 2018 and 2019 and The Kankakee Daily Journal Coach of the Year in 2014. In addition, Carlile was named as an Illinois Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2014. During the 2014 season Manteno earned a national ranking of 16 by ESPN. Carlile believes that hard work and strict discipline help prepare his athletes to become successful members of society.

In addition to coaching the High School team, Carlile has been coaching The Manteno Middle School Softball team since 2002. During his tenure at the MS the Panthers have placed second in conference three times and won six conference championship. The MS team has also won 6 regional championships, 3 sectional championship, and earned trips to the state tournament in 2007, 2009 and 2014. The 2009 MS softball team went on to win the state tournament. Coach Carlile was named the Kan Will All Sports Coach of the Year in 2009.

Carlile coached travel softball for three years. His travel teams earned World Series births in all three seasons (NSA 12 and under twice and ASA 16 under). In 2016 Carlile was selected to coach a team of US athletes internationally (Europe). While playing internationally Carlile's team went 3-3.

Carlile was a two sport athlete in high school competing in baseball for four years and football for two. Josh's pony league baseball team won the 1992 world series in which Carlile was a catcher and second baseman. Coach Carlile earned a scholarship to play college baseball before deciding to enter the United States Army.


Kylie Johnson 
Assistant Coach

Coach Kylie Johnson is in her first year of coaching at Manteno High School. Earlier this year she spent time as the head coach of the Middle School B Team. Before coming to Manteno, Kylie has also found experience coaching other area middle school and high school teams. Johnson played travel softball for 10 years and played all 4 years of varsity softball at Kankakee High School, while also playing high school and travel volleyball. She continued her education and softball career at the University of Illinois as an outfielder and a slapper.


Annabeth Brimberry 
Assistant Coach

Coach Annabeth Brimberry has been coaching softball in the Manteno School District since 2012. In addition to coaching the High School Sophomore Softball team, Brimberry has been coaching the Manteno Middle School 7th Grade Girls Basketball team and Manteno High School Sophomore Girls Basketball team. During her term at the MS the Panthers have placed second in conference. The HS basketball team has also placed second in the Interstate 8 conference. 

Brimberry played traveling softball for nine years as an outfielder and slapper. Brimberry was a three sport athlete at Manteno High School competing in basketball, softball and volleyball. Annabeth is returning to Manteno to coach under her former coach Josh Carlile. Annabeth furthered her educational career at Eastern Illinois University while continuing to compete in intramural athletics.
